Hot temperatures and mainly dry conditions are in the forecast for our country's 239th birthday around the state of Florida. Only a few locations in the state may see afternoon showers and thunderstorms, but in most cases they will taper off in time for fireworks. Temperatures from Pensacola to Miami are likely to be above normal for this time of year, with daytime highs reaching the lower and middle 90's. "Feels like" temperatures (or the heat index) will likely approach 100° during the afternoon hours. Thanks to higher pressure and slightly less moisture in our atmosphere, only a few locations may experience the cooling benefits of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm. There's also a possibility a few thunderstorms may linger into the evening hours and interfere with a few of the festivities, and this is most likely in northeast sections of the state. Otherwise, typical heat and humidity will be the general rule across Florida.
